Earliest political memory of the day #171

The year was 1959-1960, during the pre-electoral battle between ERE[1] and EDA. I was really young, around ten years old and I heard the following words from an elderly lady in a small village in Corfu, called Agioi Deka. Her name was Neno, she was very old and, apparently, she had a bad relationship with her daughter-in-law. As she heard the people of ERE propagating that “the communists will take over your homes and seize your belongings”, she replied pompously: “No way! I don’t even let my daughter-in-law, Georgia, eat my eggs and eggplants, you really think I’d let those filthy communists?
