Earliest political memory of the day #9

epm-09I was raised by rather unpolitical parents; politics hardly were a topic at the dinner table. My earliest political memory is the fall of the German wall when I was 11. I was born in Western Germany without any relatives in the East, and Eastern Germany was just some unknown foreign country to me. The event only gained significance for me because my grandparents, to whom I was very close, were very emotional about it. Today, I am deeply moved by footage of these days that changed the history of my country.

Any thoughts?
